That’s what they called big, transformative meetings back in the Roman Empire.

The origin story

How it all began.

After a long day filled with meetings back in 2018, our founder asked the question “how do we spend half our day in meetings, and it’s ridiculously hard to get all of this conversation to flow into the actual work?”

Fast-forward to 2025, and the big AI lab CEOs were talking non-stop about how AI was going to replace all the humans. Having spent a decade serving relationship-driven businesses, our founder realized that the key was building AI that would amplify the impact of human relationships. And Contio was born.

Our founder

Built by someone who has lived the problem.

Aaron Klein has spent his career building technology that amplifies human relationships. In 2011, he founded Riskalyze in his basement and led it through 42 consecutive quarters of growth, serving tens of thousands of financial advisors. Riskalyze was twice named one of Fast Company’s ten most innovative companies in finance. After Hg Capital acquired the company in 2021, it became Nitrogen. Aaron passed the baton to his successor in 2023 and continues to serve on its board.

In 2025, he founded Contio around a problem he couldn’t stop thinking about: too much of the important work in relationship-driven businesses disappears after the conversation. Contio is his attempt to fix that—turning what gets said into what gets done, so professionals can do their best work and reinvest more time in the relationships at the center of their businesses.

Aaron lives in Eagle, Idaho, with his wife, Cacey, and their three children. He serves on the boards of Advisors Excel and Mountain States Policy Center and co-founded Hope Takes Root, an initiative using capitalism to change the future for orphans and at-risk children in Ethiopia.
